First off, since others don't appear to understand what this device is for... This is a communications headset for chatting with other players in a game on Xbox Live, sending/receiving voice messages on Xbox live, and for use in chatting to others in an Xbox Live Party session. It is NOT designed to play sounds from the games. On a side note, I've plugged this into a cordless phone from time to time to use it hands free. Yes, it is the same as a telephone headset and will work as one in a pinch.

I have had this headset for over 3 years with no issues. I bought a second one as a backup but have never had need of it.

It works fine with the Xbox 360 headset adapter or "puck" as it's called and this is how I've always used mine. I don't bother with the volume or mute that is built into the cord. I use the mute switch on the "puck" and thus never have to move my hands from the controller.

This is not a powered device, so amplification is limited to the max volume of the controller output jack. This has always been enough for me but if you're hard of hearing or a stone deaf teenager, this may not be enough for you.

I've found this to be comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

No one ever has difficulty hearing me or says it sounds like I'm breathing into the microphone.

It doesn't pick up on background noises as easily as the Microsoft headset, so you don't get the "open mic" issue as easily during games.

It's rugged enough that if you don't abuse it, it's not going to break easily.

Many people that I've played with in R6V2 over the last 3 years have commented on how clear I sound and have switched to this headset them self.

Plantronics has been making headsets for office phones for ages and it shows in this product.

Pros: Cheap, very clear communication, comfortable

Cons: Only able to hear communication, not game sounds.

Neutral: Cord length, mute button.

I recently purchased a Xbox 360 Arcade so I needed a headset for multiplayer gaming. After seeing how cheaply made the official Xbox headset is, I decided to go with this and am very glad I did. It's a very affordable option and has better communication than official headsets. This headset doesn't pick up any background noise, contrary to what others have said, and is quite comfortable even during long periods of use and for those with big heads (like me). I may be missing a setting on my Xbox, but this headset doesn't play game sounds, only communication from others with headsets. Lastly, the cord length is quite long which could be good for some and annoying for others. Also, I sort of wish that it had a button to toggle/press rather than the small switch on the side. It would just be easier to click back and forth, which is helpful if you're trying to talk to people at home.

Headset has worked good so far, does not come with anything to stop you from breathing into the mic, otherwise it's worth the money.

I had one of those under-the-ear headsets and it broke within 6 months. I was looking around the net for a new headset that looked great and had an affordable price. I stumbled upon this headset and was amazed that the price tag was only $10. I bought in a heart beat and within 2 days, I received it. Let me tell you, this headset is amazing. The sound quality is definitely top-notch. I can hear my friends without a problem. The voice is also very responsive. I recorded myself with the headset and its clear and it didn't pick up any background noise. The overall design of the headset is really slick with its black and green which definitely matches the Xbox 360's colors. It's very sturdy and not as flimsy as other headsets I have had in the past. And overall, it's pretty comfortable to wear for long periods of time. But one thing that bothered me though is that it sometimes pulled my hair. lol.

One other small nitpick that have is that the volume and mute buttons are not directly connected to the controller. Which means that if you want to lower the volume or mute yourself, your're going to have to take your hand off the controller and go to the inline.

But other than that, this headset is the best headset I have ever owned in my gaming years. The overall quality you get is amazing. The sound, voice-pickup, design. I definitely recommend this headset to anyone who is looking for quality and an affordable price.

This is a great headset and a cheap pricetag to boot. It's comfortable even after several hours of play. The only negatives are: 1. the mic placement wasn't as adjustable as i was hoping for 2. wish volume would go louder, i have a loud a/c unit 3. wish in-line volume control was higher up on the wire

FAQ about Xbox 360 Over Ear Headset

why does my xbox 360 keeps over heating every 15 minutes?

well my xbox 360 over heats all the times. it gets to red rings which means over heated. But I just play on it for like 15m then it turns off with the two rings.(i have the fan thing but it doesnt work) any one know why this happens and how it can be fix?

Answer
Alright listen closely. Look at your xbox and you will see this gray plastic cover on the side. Peel that whole thing off. Dont worry about warranty this wont mess that up. After you do that get a cotton swab and wipe the fans. Thats what causing overheating. It makes the Xbox do more work which overheats it. Good luck!

My Xbox 360 fell over while i was playing gta 4 so i picked it up and now my game wont work.Anything i can do?

The only scratch on the back is on the middle circle where it says xbox 360 all over.Is that unfixable? Is my best bet to try and send it back?

Answer
Same thing happened to me, just take it back and get a new one.

FAQ about Xbox Controller (Original Design)

My xbox original controller is not working?

I think the cord may be a little pulled out of the socket in the controller and now I always have to move around untill I find the position it will work with but that only works rarely and when it does it takes about an hour to do and if I slightly move the gamewill tell me to re-connect the controller.

Answer
getting a new one is better than repairing it coz u might injur urself if u dunno waht u are doing......

How to fix an Xbox controller (original, not 360)?

I have a controller that is not functioning because of one tiny metal piece inside the cord. There is the controller, a long cord that connects at the end to a short cord which connects to the console. Inside the connection piece of the long cord, there are three skinny metal prongs that fit into the corresponding end of the short cord. Two of those three metal prongs were off-center and pushed (bent) back when I tried to put the two cords together to use the controller. Is there any salvaging this situation? I want to either fix the controller myself or have the store replace the controller.

Answer
just grab some pliers and like pull it out and straighten them.

will an original xbox controller work with my pc to play halo?

hi i just bought halo 2 for pc and im wondering if an xbox controller would work to play it not a xbox 360

Answer
no, only 360 controllers work with pc.

Compared to those days, these Xbox 360 controllers are a veritable bargain. And these controllers have much higher build quality than those old N64 controllers. (Remember how often you'd break the joystick from Mario Party) At the price Amazon currently has listed, it's entirely reasonable to purchase 4 controllers, in the event you decide to have company over.

My only qualm is with battery life. I'd definitely recommend getting one of those rechargeable battery packs, especially if you tend to play heavily. Nothing is worse than being in the middle of a game of Modern Warfare 2, with your gun aimed on a hapless victim, when your Xbox 360 suddenly says "PLEASE RECONNECT CONTROLLER." That, and batteries are pretty expensive.

All in all, these controllers are solid, durable, and cheap. What's not to love?

We have three xboxes in the house in total and two elites which are black (one MW elite) and I have to say with the variety of controllers we have, from wired to wireless and colors in white, red and black I really prefer the black wireless controllers.

I would suggest you don't use batteries unless they are the rechargeable kind because it will eat through batteries. We just purchased the charge and play kit which works just perfectly.

We did buy a used one at a local game store but are replacing it because it was apparently abused as our characters move to the side or the controller moves to the side like it's being pressed when everything checks out fine.

The ones we have owned since day one brand new have had no problems.

I'm not a gamer but I bought it so I'll review it. I bought this so I could play a game with my son and his friends. I like the fact that it is wireless and that you can turn the console on and off with it. I have played the PS2 and PS3 before and prefer the style and comfort of that controller much better. This one feels front heavy. And boy do they consume battery life. With traditional alkaline batteries you're not getting very far. But we use the 2500 mah or better batteries and get tons of playing time from the controllers. Thats about it in a nutshell.

I've been waiting patiently for this controller for 2 years now. Why do you ask? Because being that this is a limited edition red x360 controller everywhere I looked this bad boy was extremely expensive. Finally after 2 years of waiting lol, Amazon pretty much is a have a 50% off the original price and I grabbed it. This is your standard x360 controller colored on red with a dock charger to connect to your xbox and it also supports batteries. I'm so happy with this deal

This is a very cool looking controller to have. The sticks have little bumps on them so your grip is good, and it's, i would say, lighter than the original white controllers. The plug and play kit is also very useful for charging a battery quickly but dont try and charge while using the controller. It kinda screws it up.

Overall I like the design of this controller. It is great for most modern games like RPGs and FPS. The reason I say modern is that with the increasing popularity of old school games on Xbox Live Arcade, this controller could use some improvements. The main problem is the D-pad. In most games I play, the D-pad is used sparingly, and usually only a single or couple of presses at a time. For that it is ok. But try playing Castlevania or Ninja Turtles and you'll quickly find it unsatisfactory. Now I know you can use the joystick but the problem with those is that sometimes the input is unclear. For example in castlevania you press Up + Attack to use your special weapon. However sometime pressing Forward + Attack will be register as Up + Attack. If you try to use the D-pad you encounter the same issue. It has this curvature that makes it feel like a bowl which takes away the feel and makes precise inputs hard. It would have been nice if they just had a simple D-pad with Up, Down, Left, and Right like on Nintendo controllers. But if you only play more modern games that are made for the 360 then I think this controller is excellent and you don't have to worry about my comments.

The big sell on this controller was the improved D-pad, which is definitely improved. I really like the black thumb sticks, D-pad, triggers, and outline. All future 360 controllers should follow the design of this one. The price might turn off some people from buying it, but if you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.

The controller itself is rather uncomfortable to hold and the dpad is uttery atrocious. But what really breaks this pile of junk is the battery. After less than 6 months it won't hold a charge, is inconsistent about even trying to charge using the included cable (the only way of charging it outside of buying a proprietary standalone charging unit), and has a loose fit with the controller that makes the contacts extremely problematic.

I've never seen such a poorly constructed game controller. It probably shouldn't be surprising, coming from Microsoft, but it is terribly disappointing. Just stick with your standard rechargeable AAs. At least you'll be able to use them with something else and they'll last a heck of a lot longer than this junk. If you really need to play a 360 get the wired controller, it's cheaper and you'll just be plugging this one in all the time anyway.

Can't see any reason to spend 35 or so bucks on the official controller or buy a used one that may break down any time. Got to break the new joysticks in tho, and when they're stiff, it's hard to get used to them. Anyway would recommend this off-brand xbox controller as a replacement or addition. Would say the fit in hand is almost exactly like the microsoft controller. Really, the difference is minute, and when you play for awhile it will be forgotten.

Since MS no longer produces the original Xbox or Controllers, it is no small task to try and find a suitable replacement for the awesome Xbox Controller S. The Xbox Precision Controller manufactured by Pelican does a pretty good job.

The controller is slightly larger than the Xbox Controller S, which is not a bad thing for my adult hands. Also, my 8 & 9 year old's have no problem hanging on to it for hours.

The durability and ruggedness quality seem to be above average. It feels solid and comfortable in my hands. All buttons, D pads, Triggers, and thumb sticks have a very good feel - almost identical to the original Xbox controller.

Two negative items keep this controller from earning 5 stars: First, the START and BACK buttons are moved to the middle of the controller, between the D pad and the Right Thumb Stick. The original Xbox controller puts those two buttons on the left side, more accessible for the left thumb. Pelican's new positions for the BACK & START button are less convenient. The Second negative comment is the cord lacks a quick disconnect in case someone trips over the cord. The original Xbox Controller had it, this one does not.

All in all, I would purchase this controller again. Great value, great quality.

So when I was shopping for a controller and I found this company that was selling them cheap. I had been given every indication that the controllers were new, so I didn't think I could go wrong. I got my package today and it was definitely far from new. First off, it was re-wrapped with packaging tape, like a 10-year old wraps Christmas presents. After I opened it, I found a controller that was heavily used and covered in grease, as if someone had been using for at least a year. The dimples on the analog sticks were completely gone there was gunk all over the controller. Needless to say, I have a controller that I have been using for almost 2 years now and it is much better shape then the crappy one they sent me.

I have tried several gamepads for pc and i have to say that this is one of the best ones out there. It is great because most, not all, games work with this controller. It works with windows xp, vista and windows 7 (I am currently running windows 7 64 bit with no problems whatsoever) Obviously you need to find the games that are labeled "games for windows" for this gamepad to work, otherwise you will need to use a program like xpadder to map the pc controls to the xbox controller.
The great thing about this controller is that it feels very comfortable in my hands, zero lag, and no sweaty palms lol

I returned the initial shipment for an exchange, the reason for doing so was because of the persistent squeak from the L trigger, loud enough to notice even when engulfed in intense gameplay, the replacement however was with the same fault, I'm not sure if it has something to do with springs they're using now or what the deal is, the R trigger does not squeak so I'm unsure as to what in particular is causing this fault.

Otherwise as usual it functions as any of Microsoft's Wireless Controller's do. Wonderful, the range is good, as usual, I am getting occasional interference which I assume is from my wireless keyboard and mouse receiver, my entertainment center is an array of PC, Console, Blu-ray, and audio components displayed by a 46" LCD HD Bravia so I'm sure there is no work around for any interference.

There's not much to say about a controller but I just want people to know that this is a good investment. We had two old controllers that were wearing down and needed replaced so that was the main reason we got this one (and a red one). The other reason being that we wanted a play and charge because we were tired of dealing with batteries. Although we did use rechargeable batteries in our old controllers, it still was just a hassle. This controller is great and so far has held it's charge for a long time. What's nice is that when the charge is running low, you just plug it into the XBOX 360 and keep playing. The cord is long enough to reach from our TV to the couch which is obviously a plus. If you still want to use batteries, it does come with an extra back for use with batteries.

This 'Xbox L' controller,or as its better known 'The Duke' is the perfect controller if you have large sized hands,I myself have medium sized hands and I feel that the Duke doesn't feel comfortable in my hands (it doesn't set right,if you know what I mean?) And my hands feel really stressed as well (esp. my right hand)

I spent a fair amount of money on the controller ($20) But it will make a good 2nd player controller :P

Overall I'd have to recommend the 'S' controller as its geared more towards smaller-medium sized hands.

Shipping and such went without any problems. Upon opening the box, I found the controller to have an unidentifiable sticky substance on the buttons. I loved the idea of the glowing controllers. They look cool when lit up and work pretty nicely. Except for the fact that the joysticks break off of the metal part after about 3 months. It seems to be just a cheap plastic housing that connects the joystick to the actual metal piece that moves. I received them as a gift for christmas with my xbox. I loved them. The white one broke after about 3 months, and I thought I had just gotten a bad pair of them. I bought another package and they worked great. Until they both broke. Cool idea, complete waste of money. Too flimsy and the joysticks are barely held onto the controller.

I purchase this wireless remote to replace another set of wireless remote for my xbox. I am completely happy with the design and the range and precision of the controllers. The receiver for each controller fits perfectly in the xbox and there is no wire hanging out; it attaches directly to the xbox. The only issue I had at first was that I did not like the fact each controller uses 4 AAA batteries, but after playing for over 2 weeks with same batteries that feeling was a thing of the past. I recommend you buy the 15 minute AA/AAA energizer charger, it will be of great help. If you are looking a wireless controller I will recommend this 2 controllers pack so you can also enjoy night-play under beautiful glow/illumination.

The controller was actually very nice the only thing is the cord is only three feet long. The standard controller length for an XBOX controller cord is about six feet. So in order for this controller to be functional for me I had to buy an extension cord. One more thing is my controller was not blue, it was green. The cord also doesn't have the break away connector like the standard controller either.

The Modern Warfare 2 Xbox controller lacks one critical component: rapid fire for right trigger. There are mod button underneath the controller for A, B, X & Y, LSB & RSB, but not for the triggers to permit burst or rapid fire. This is a serious shortcoming. Cannot recommend this controller.

I was looking for an after-market Xbox 360 controller,
such as the ones available for the Wii.

I thought I had found one.

the pretty:
> it lights up, with is only for the bling-bling factor, but it does make it easier to spot in the dark.
> a long USB cord.
> silicone rubberized grips

the ugly:
> poor quality: there is a slight creep in the controls. If you place the unit on a table, hands-free... mine will slowly start a creeping movement to the left. for a sub $50 controller, seriously? i mean this thing looks solid, but I have found it to be only skin deep.
> you cannot attach the snap-on keyboard to this controller.
> trigger response seems delayed after continued use: while i really can't say this is it for sure, but lately the response time on shooting or even nothing happening after pulling the trigger is a concern. I switched back the microsoft wireless controller and felt much better response time.

bottom line:
too expensive for wired, back-lighted controller.

I'll start off by saying the controller feels awesome in your hand. It in fact feels so good I hate that I dislike it so much. The problems are:

#1, the space between the RB and the RT buttons are too wide. You really do have to grip the controller with one finger dedicated to both buttons. I can't get used to having my middle finger be my trigger finger. I need one finger access to both. This may or may not be a gripe for you.

#2, The extra buttons they put on the back are too high and inside. So from point #1 your pointer and middle fingers have to rest on those two RB, RT buttons. So to access this extra button you have to use your ring finger to reach up high on the back and push it. It works as advertised but makes no sense.

#3, To run in this game you have to push down on the left stick and click it (L3 button they call it). You cannot click the L3 button while moving forward, the controller just won't let you. In the normal, centered position you can click L3 all day. Well there is a way to bypass that issue, just use the extra button on the back to sprint but wait.... you have to go back to point #2 now.

It could have been a great controller. The feel is right, the lights are cool, the triggers are amazing and I would have loved to used them but those 3 problems were big dealbreakers for me.

When I saw this controller I was quite weary of all the negative reviews, but in the end I would have to say that this controller is absolutely fantastic for any games that use the analog stick buttons. It definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars if you are playing Modern Warfare 2, but maybe only 4 out of 5 stars with most other games that don't use the right/left analog stick buttons. Since it was designed specifically for "Modern Warfare 2" I must give it a 5 star rating.

Pro...
1. The controller has two extra buttons on the bottom face. These buttons can be pressed by using your middle fingers. At first it felt really funny using my middle fingers to press the extra buttons, but this actually took all of 20 minuets to get used to; quite a nice substitute. Maybe in the future, controllers will be made with pinky finger buttons.

These two extra buttons are what really make this controller great. Basically, these buttons can substitute for two other buttons on the front face of the controller. I use them for the analog stick buttons, hence, running/knife-slash in "Modern Warfare 2".

Anybody who has played "Kill Zone 2" or "Modern Warfare 2" can understand that pressing the left analog button to run is very annoying and can cause your character to run in an unintended direction. This sometimes becomes overly frustrating, but this controller solves that problem with the extra buttons.

Another great feature is the side rubber grips. This gives me a really secure grip on the controller and keeps it locked in my hands when pressing the bottom face bottoms. Had the controller been manufactured with no rubber grips, the bottom face buttons would be difficult to press properly.

Neutral...
The controller is corded. I'm not sure weather I should count this as a pro or con. Most of the other reviews that I have read have placed it in the con category. I feel indifferent towards this situation. Wireless is a nice feature to have, but I am tired of replacing the energizer batteries on my wireless controller.

The cord for this controller is 9.8 ft long. At this distance I can comfortably play my Xbox with no problems, although a cord is something else for someone to trip over. Like I said, this is a neutral situation.

Both analog sticks light up with a green glow when plugged in. This looks kind of sheik, but isn't a great feature. One review pointed out that it gets annoying in the dark. This may be. I'll have to try and see if I can see the lights in my perif.

Con...
This controller is not quite as solid as a standard Microsoft Brand controller. It's lighter and, like one review pointed out, better suited for people with slightly smaller hands like my person. It does have a "cheap" feel to it, but certainly worth the money if you can find it for less than $30.

Certainly not a great controller for watching DVD movies because of the corded feature; I would recommend a PS2 (with remote) or a standard DVD player instead. Sadly, there is no louder system than an Xbox 360 on the market.

In the end, this controller is great and worth the $25 that I spent on it. It can't be beat when playing "Modern Warfare 2" and is a great substitute for a standard controller with most other games. However, I would highly recommend a standard white Microsoft wired/wireless controller with most other games that do not use the analog stick buttons. I give this controller a 5 star rating because of its application to "Modern Warfare 2". I'm still going to play Bioshock with a standard controller.

All the other bad reviews are 100% correct. this thing is terrible. I cant believe i wasted $50 on this.

its hard to use after using the Microsoft controller. The buttons on the back are lame and dont give good options to map. joysticks are terrible. When I got it, the grenade button was busted, and also the controller just does not feel comfortable in your hands. Include that with the fact that it is not wireless, and stay away from this product

So, I actually purchase this controller at a local store knowing I may just return it, which I did.

I have summarized my impressions below:

1) Seems like it was designed to keep your fore-fingers on the bumpers and middle-fingers on the triggers (I can't seem to get used to that setup)

2) The bumpers are huge compared to the default MS controller and I often found myself hitting them instead of the triggers in my first several games. Has anyone ever had an issue with the size of the bumpers on the MS controller?

3) Triggers respond OK but feel as though they are placed a little too low for my liking (I'll provide pictures)....hence the hitting the bumpers instead of the triggers. The spring for the triggers seems to be weaker than the the default MS controller slightly slowing my rapid rate of fire.

4) The sticks feel just fine, I had no issue with the lack of bumps or rubberized grip, and the sensitivity feels just the slightest hair off from the default controller. Also, unlike some of the official reviewers I had no issue with clicking the sticks.

5) The extra buttons on the back of the controller I found were virtually useless with their placement because they are placed so near the top of the controller that you have to go out of your way to hit them when holding the controller regularly. This defeats the purpose for me gaining back that quick knifing ability using the Tactical button layout in MW2.

6) I don't like that I have to hit the left rear button to knife (B button duplicate) and you can only map the rear right button to X, Y, or Right Stick Click.

7) The Back and Start buttons are spongy awefulness but really how often do you use them but for the occasional score-board check.

8) The cord is a nice braided vinyl looking mesh material but really should have been longer. It also has a gold plated USB connector (whatever).

9) The face buttons (A,B,X,Y) and the Guide button seem very cheap despite their responsiveness. Also, the Guide button graphic on my controller was not straight.

Overall, it is an OK controller and will work as a decent replacement for a regular MS controller if you sit close enough to your 360 and you can find it cheaper than a regular MS 360 controller.

Anyone who has given this controller a positive review has tiny hands, has never used it, or is a Madcatz employee :P

I too absolutely loved the idea of this controller- and then I actually got to use it once it arrived :/

Problems:

1. Immediate thing you notice is that the black plastic on the thumbsticks is quite slick...the stock xbox360 controllers have a slightly ruggedized texture, concave surface, and tick marks to help hold your thumb in place: of all of these, this controller has one and it's only the very center of the stick that's concave. I took a knife to the surface to scuff it up, and now it holds in place just fine. Which brings me to problem 2:

2. The headset voice has what sounds like a phase delay- gives an echo to the sound and making any headset sound far less crisp than even the basic microsoft headset (plugging that headset in sounds just terrible). Wish I had spotted this before trying to modify the thumbstick into a usuable feature because I'd have returned it on the spot if otherwise. Test your new stuff in a real game, not in a private lobby alone so you're testing things you might not realize don't work right: which brings me to #3

3. The bumper buttons are huge and the sensor pad for them are near the top- so the bottom portion of the buttons that I touch the most are intermittent at best. Cooking a grenade? I hope not :P Reallllly disliked seeing a grenade I'm trying to carefully time suddenly fly out of my hand because the bottom of the button wasn't applying enough pressure.

4. Trigger frame and bottom buttons. Unless you've got tiny child-like hands, you're going to have a hard time finding a comfortable position to put your fingers so that they sit on the combat buttons on the bottom. I don't know anyone who doesn't wrap their middle, ring, and pinky fingers around the palm grips of a 360 controller, so why not put these buttons there? The sloping of the frame where the trigger is pulled into makes it impossible to hold the controller tightly and use the combat buttons. I'm in the middle of trying to figure out a way to balance a beam across a bearing over the button to extend these down the underside of the palm grips, but I why should I have to redesign the controller to make it usable? That's Madcatz's job and they failed at it. Great idea, incredibly bad implementation. Great controller to let someone you hate use, so unless that someone is you, don't buy one.

The action buttons are difficult to press. Even if I wanted to use this without the action buttons, the triggers and bumpers are not like the official controllers. The triggers are pressed straight instead of rotating like the official ones. There's room for the trigger to pinch my finger. It's uncomfortable to use the trigger and bumper with just your index finger because of the way you have to press the trigger. I would have to use my index for the bumper, middle for the trigger, and somehow press the action button with my ring finger.

Any way its essential to play dvds and there is not really any cheaper generics out there so just buy it if you need it.

As a gamer, this controller is by far the best one out of them all.

This controller is ideal for the old MK games for a player to actually do a fatality on someone without doing a imposable code to put in while the game only gives you a nano second, all you have to do is simply push the button you've programmed to do a fatality on. It's tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it in no time. For me, it does the fatality move for Shang Tsung every time, and its one of the hardest moves to do.

If you ask me, if MK wants to make any more games with fatality codes in them, this controller or something very similar should automatically go with it.

The Intec Pro Mini-2 X-Box Controller is absolute garbage! To post a review one is required to offer a rating, unfortunately the rating system doesn't go low enough to properly reflect the quality of these controllers. On a scale of 1 to 5, these rate a negative 10!

I am a gamer with thousands of hours behind the controller, most notably with the Halo game series. While every brand of controller has it's quirks, generally they they will perform similarly to the Microsoft OEM controller. An exception must be made for this extremely poor quality knock-off. The joysticks have no ability for subtle movement (sensitivity), they are either moving or not, there is no in between, no matter how delicately the operator attempts to manipulate them and regardless of the level of sensitivity applied to the software settings of the controller. All of the buttons seem to have a time delay between the moment they are depressed and when they decide to activate whatever action they are intended to operate. That is ALL of the buttons, stop/start, A/B/X/Y, and the white and black buttons under the A/B/X/Y buttons. Even the triggers seem sluggish. This is assuming that any of the buttons respond at all.

If you are looking for a suitable replacement to your OEM X-Box controllers, these are not it! Do not buy these, you'll be extremely disappointed if you do.

For quite a long time, using a joystick in Windows to play games was a real pain. I remember buying a generic one few years ago, and realizing I could only play few games with it, and even those played awfully uncomfortable and I had to set up axes, buttons, etc. on each game.
With the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, Microsoft are trying to push it as a standard, and many games support it out of the box, the same way as you would expect as playing them on a Xbox 360 - just run the game, choose the controller as default and you are ready to go.
Examples of such popular titles are:
- Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter
- Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Prototype
- Prince of Persia
- Need for Speed: Undercover
- Fallout 3
- Far Cry 2
- FIFA Soccer 09
- Crysis
- Crysis Warhead
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Assassin's Creed
- Half-Life 2

This joystick may not replace the whole console experience, but for a casual gamer as myself, who does not have or want a console, it's perfect.
This wireless one works very well, batteries last long enough, feels great in your hands. Surely, don't expect to match a keyboard and mouse precision for first person shooter games, but if you play for fun and relaxation, it does not matter how good you are. Standing on a desk, stooping over the mouse and keyboard is no match for sitting laid back on the sofa with the wireless joystick and really relaxing.
So, if you are a PC gamer, buy this joystick. You are guaranteed to have your money's worth of fun with it.

First off, this is one of the best controllers I've owned, works with Xbox360 as well, which is a big plus. Another thing I'd like to add is that after you purchase this, and would like to add another controller to play multiplayer games like FIFA, NBA Live, Street Fighter, etc, you just need to buy another regular Xbox360 controller. You don't need to buy another one of this model with the wireless receiver, regular 360 controllers will be recognized by the single receiver. The receiver can have a maximum of 4 controllers connected.

Other than that, the item I bought was stated as NEW, but the package came opened, the plastic packaging was slit throughout and was taken out before. Should have stated as openbox item, not NEW.

This is an ok replacement pad. Sometimes it gives me trouble connecting and I have to remove and replace the batteries, like a hard reset on the controller. Button reception is a little slow sometimes and can get you in trouble while playing quick scrolling shooters. But overall for the money and just occasional game play this controller will work.

From watching and hearing what my friend has said it is good, i witnessed him go 45-2 and get 2 tactical nukes in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 IN A ROW, he and i claimed it was awesome, but then eventually some people caught on to him using it and now every game he gets like 10 hatemail messages, but it gets worse, he even had his rep go down from like 81% preffered and 19% avoided to 35% preffered and 65% avoided, but thats not the end of it, his account even got suspeneded for like a week because some jacka** and his friends caught on and filed complaints on his account, i know using a modded controller is considered cheating but i don't think he deserved that! Then eventually after 2-3 months after he got it a patch came out which removed the ability of the controller to rapid fire and now hes stuck with a $60 useless modded controler that doesn't even work anymore!

Pros
Nice fire rate improvement in the call of duty games
The red LED light looks cool

Cons
Using it is considered a bannable offense
People will give you a lot of hatemail, garrenteed
This raises the question "is it really worth the money"
This thing changes absolutley nothing to the guns in Halo 3 and only the Snub pistol in Gears of War 2
There are patches that can block it

As mentioned helpfully by others the MS XBox 360 racing wheel provides the most "bang for the buck" to those who are limited in their standard XBox controller skills but still want to have a great time with a driving game. That has been my experience entirely. I've gone from struggling to get around the track with the standard controller (steering with the joy stick and thumb is quite a challenge for us 'over 50's') to consistently winning races (level 45 now) and really enjoying Forza 3. The ONLY thing I'd want more would be a clutch pedal--the paddle shifters are an excellent simulation of a double-clutched automatic, though. If you'd like to do the driving games but find yourself inadequate to the job with the std controller--try this wheel as it delivers.
Review from Review from Amazon
Reviewer: Carl E Perry| Date:2010-03-15
I really like that this Steering wheel is "wireless". It only requires a plug in which I have behind the couch, so it does not get in the way. The force feedback is OK in this wheel it doesn't really seam to do much. I don't like the turn radius. I have a PS2 steering wheel with three full revolution steering and it is a lot more accurate at low speeds or during hard cornering. If I could add one feature to this steering wheel I would give it three revolution steering other than that it is a good racing wheel.

This is the first time I have had a problem with any product I have ordered from Amazon. This is obviously NOT Amazon's fault, however. The install disc was not included in the packaging from Microsoft. The rest of the unit is in perfect condition, but is not usable because my system cannot recognize it. I have spoken with customer service for Xbox and there apparently is no way of downloading the software. If anyone has a fix, let me know. I will update my rating once I have been able to use the controller.
Review from Review from Amazon
Reviewer: Jeremiah Zabal| Date:2010-03-06
It seems a bit overpriced for what it is (which is why i purchased a used unit). For most people it will only work with the few racing titles they have. All i have is Forza 3 -- so i didn't want to spend $100 for something that i could only use with one game that i don't play very often.

Possibly because i'm playing this with Forza, i'm wanting the experience to be as realistic as possible, which means sitting the wheel on my lap just won't do. It slides around and hops off my legs with quick turns of the wheel. But clamping it to my desk creates other problems. Typical desks and chairs are way too high, so it ends up feeling like you're sitting up in a van or big truck -- not a race car, which generally sit very low and flat. So then the pedals needed to be propped up on something, but also anchored so they don't slide. You start to see the reason for these mounts and exotic racing seat rigs on eBay and elsewhere that mimic the wheel and pedal positioning of a real car. Of course you'd be spending several hundred more dollars for that experience. It's a shame that you basically have to put more money into to make it work like i feel it's supposed to.

I experienced an odd "bug" with the set where the pedals do not work in the Xbox Dashboard. The left and right pedals are supposed to map to the left and right triggers on the standard controller, but for me at least, they did nothing. That meant i was not able to enter my Xbox Live Passcode, so i wasn't able to sign in to Live and play online. I'm kinda hoping i was just overlooking something, because as far as i could find, no one else has reported this issue. The pedals worked as intended inside Forza.

So once i was actually driving around in Forza, the wheel felt great. Going from a thumbstick with 1 inch of travel to the wheel means so much more room and precision for your inputs. No, it doesn't quite feel like a real car, but it's close enough when combined with the visuals and sounds from the game. The force feedback gives a sense of weight to the car and relays tactile feedback about the road surface (bumps, gravel, etc). The "feel" can be tuned in some games -- i found some preferred input settings on the Forza forums. The pedals work, but are slightly less impressive mainly because they do not offer force feedback. So the pedal feel cannot be adjusted -- if it feels too soft or light to you, that's just how it's gonna be (unless maybe you hack it with stiffer springs). The position can't be changed either -- they pivot from the bottom, when most car pedals pivot from the top. I found i could benefit if they were angled up a bit (think the "feet" that raise the back of most computer keyboards).

If you're serious about racing on Xbox 360 (or prepared to spend a lot for a great driving experience), this is probably for you. If not, look for a used unit on eBay or craigslist for 50 bucks or less, or passing altogether and pumping quarters into the arcade.

I bought this wheel to play Forza 3 with after getting tired of sore thumbs. It's the best money I've spent yet on a video game.

The Pros:
Solid feel
Force Feedback
Pedals feel fairly real
Buttons easy to hit while driving
Flappy Paddle Shifter!

The Cons:
If you sit it in your lap, it just sits in your lap. No way to get it to just sit there (e.g. like what the Logitech wheel has)
Wires!! Yes, it's wireless, but there's still a cable that connects the wheel to the pedals, and a second wire that plugs into the wall (if you aren't using batteries)
Vibration is weak

Overall, this is a well-built steering wheel and pedal set. I've done some pretty intense racing with this wheel and I have yet to feel like I'm about to break the pedals.

The wheel spins from stop to stop with a bit of resistance, making it feel more like a real steering wheel and less like a video game controller. Also the unit is pretty weighty. It does not feel cheap in any way.

I bought this one on a recommendation over the Logitech wheel, and I am certainly not disappointed at all!

MS is already skating on thin ice releasing their controllers without charge packs and cables, but to advertise and sell an incomplete game and then act all mystified every time someone calls to complain about it not functioning is not the way to treat your customers who already pay out the nose for overpriced downloads and gold live. Calling microsoft customer service is akin to some kind horrifying gauntlet as you are tossed from incomprehensible to dumbfounded to tech where they want to repair your whole console. I tried twice to let them make good hanging on hold for 10 20 mins at a time all to get nowhere with them. I already have GWS2 and MS. Pacman is a classic but is fun for about 15 mins, so back to amazon this frustrating package goes.
Yes Bomberman will work offline so you make the call but shouldn't they be treating all their customers the same and acknowledge the situation instead of playing ignorant.

I agree with everyone else that Bomberman Live does not work off the disc. It will ask you to purchase this for 800 MS points. HOWEVER; I purchased this at $32, which gets me a wireless controller, geometery wars 2, lumines live. A wireless controller at most retail stores alone is $40-50. I did call 1-800-4my-xbox for support and they did issue me 800 MS points to buy bomberman, which to me is a sweet deal b/c I can spend these points on something better than bomberman. It did take about 20-25 minutes on the phone to get them to fix this. At first they wanted me to contact the retailer (amazon) that I bought the product from, but I refused telling them this was an xbox product and a technical issue. I also told them every review I read online has said the same thing I was telling them and that I could not believe that xbox support was not aware of this problem. After that, they stopped giving me hassel and gave me the points.

So if you can get this at $32 with free shipping like I did, this is a heck of a deal.

I recently purchased this for around $35 on sale. I would give this a 5 star rating but it only gets a 4 due to hassle.

Prior to the purchase I read reviews about the Bomberman issue. As soon as I opened this, I tried out Bomberman using the DVD. It didn't work. However, I already purchased Bomberman a year ago and it still didn't work when using the game DVD.

I called up Microsoft and after 1 hour they gave me 800 points. I finally convinced them that they gave me a crappy product that didn't work. So, they forked over the value of the game which was 800 points.

I ended up paying about $35 for a wireless controller, Lumines, Geometry Wars 2, Ms Pacman, a broken Bomberman (which may get fixed some day through a MS patch), and 800 pts. This was a steal of a deal for me.

Pros:

-Great deal if you catch it on sale around $35
-Black controller works as expected
-Lumines and Geometry Wars 2 are fun
-Get 800 points...don't need to use them on Bomberman if you don't want (may not work for everyone)

Cons:

-Lumines and Geo Wars 2 play off of the DVD...even if you install them to your hard drive...very annoying
-Ms Pacman is incredibly lame
-You have to spend time on phone to get the 800 points

FINAL VERDICT

Great deal for me. Get it if/when it goes on sale. I ended up with about $80 worth of products for about $35 after tax/shipping.

Well first off the controller was brand new when i got it and looked like a normal controller. This mod is nice because you don't have to deal with push buttons or complicated instructions. There are three modes for the mod which you change by pressing the sync button. Mode 1: Halo 3, (or simply dual trigger mod.) Mode 2: Call of Duty 4( just rapid fire). Mode 3: Call of Duty World at War( this mode works in World At War.) Then to turn off the mod you just hit the sync button one more time. I tried it first in Call of Duty WAW and surprisingly both modes 2 and 3 worked online. Then in MW2, both modes 2 and 3 worked as well. My delivery was right on time and the modded controller is great. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and i wreck even more online. 5 stars for sure! :)

I used to make the G3 in CoD 4 look fully automatic now it looks like someone trying to hit right trigger as much as possible to not die which is nice if your afraid of detection but its not favorable if you want the winning edge if you know what i mean. This is a great product and it's been well-received by the Amazon community. There's not much to say beyond: "it looks good" and "it works well"

However, I'd like issue a warning to the would-be modders/hackers out there.

I saw the screws holding the clear brackets in place and mistakenly believed they were easily swappable. I.E., I thought I could just swap around the pieces to make a PS3-only and Xbox-only pyramid. At the time I bought it, the PS3-only pyramid and Xbox-only pyramids were selling for $8 more than this combo unit. So I bought 2, thinking I could make my own. I undid the screws and found the cables are soldered rather than simply plugged. I undid the base and found the cables were soldered to their respective board and hot-glued in place just for good measure. Normally, this wouldn't stop me, but it was more trouble than it was worth. Perhaps if were still as OCD as I used to be, I would have gone through with it.

My kids have xbox and playstation and finding controllers lying around and plug and play charging cords strewn across the room are a thing of the past as well as the need for extra batteries. I purchased this item due to its benefit as a storage place which has served its purpose. The charging is wonderful with a red light for charging and blue light for fully charged and small enough I have it sitting on top of the xbox. This unit charges two xbox and two playstation controllers. Its very easy to use that my 6 year old uses it with no problems. If your looking to get rid of those charging cables that clutter the room and lets you store the controllers out of the way this is for you!

I purchased the Konnet Power Pyramid Charger from Amazon and received the delivery in the time frame promised. I needed a charger and an organizer and the item was perfect. It worked without issue until about a week ago. One of the PS3 charge slots simply stopped working and the LED light is inoperable. There was no indication that a problem even existed. It just simply won't charge. I checked to see if I could return it for a fully operational replacement however the return window closed just the day before. So I have three working charge ports, which will have to suffice, but I am really disappointed as I LIKED this product a lot and had recommended it to several friends who also purchased the pyramid charger. I expected better durability especially considering the cost. But as careful as I was inserting the controllers, I am stuck with a now less than desirable product. After all, the charge lights are cool and create a great ambiance, but without one working, it has lost a bit of that something special. I am reluctant to recommend or not recommend this product. On one hand, a cool product with serious functionality potential. On the other hand, a pricey toy that only lasted 10 weeks with two grown ups being very careful with its use. I couldn't imagine what a house full of kids might do to this. If you do buy this item, I hope you have better luck. It is almost a great product but I feel just a bit cheated because it WAS so cool for a while.

Update: I contacted Konnet via e-mail about a warranty replacement for this item. They were very courteous and accommodating. There were some minor hoops to jump through in order to satisfy their requirements to receive a replacement but nothing too frustrating. My initial contact with them was on 11 Feb 10 and I received to replacement item on 06 Mar 10. The entire ordeal consisted of 11 e-mails back and forth, re-packaging the item and mailing it at my expense (about $5 USPS), and waiting a couple of weeks for the replacement as it was shipped via "Air Mail" from Hong Kong. It would have been nice if the entire process was more streamlined but I give Konnet credit, they did exactly what they said they would do. I commend them for that. As a side note....I used the original PS3 charging method to maintain a charge for those two controllers. As for my XBox 360 controllers, I was prepared to simply use the "AA" battery compartment until I got the charging unit back but as it turns out, I was able to use them, frequently mind you, without ever having to charge them the entire time my Konnet Power Pyramid was in transit. One controller eventually lost charge but the second controller continued to hold a charge until the replacement charging device was received. I thought that was pretty cool. I use my XBox 360 about 4 times as much as my PS3. I have increased my star rating 1 star due to Konnet's customer service response.

Overall this is a decent product. I purchased two of them for both of my controlers and it has a great grip to it and can be used as a protector when the controller gets dropped. The problem with these sleeves is that if you want to use a chatpad on it, it's nearly impossible. Therefore you have to take off the sleeve, put on the chatpad then later put on the sleeve. Maybe there is someway around this buy cutting some of the sleeve but I know that it's definitely a minus when it comes to that.

I recently bought a controller for me and my dad, and it works pretty well on MW2 because that's all we really play, The FAL is a beast and the FAMAS is pretty good in free for all.
Now that I have a mod I can actually notice a lot of the people that use them aswell.
All in all this is a pretty good controller and it's worth the money. :)

This item did not apear to be new as it was stated to be and it's performance would also suggest that it was very used and abused. It stops working and will only return function if you tap on it. Seller would not respond to my complaints.

This product was well worth the money. The controller looks just like any other (no special buttons or extra garbage to futz with). It comes with 8 modes that generally affect the right trigger, but I think 1 or 2 modes affect both. It is very simple to use. Press the sync button and the 4th led will flash to tell you what mode you're on. You can quickly disable/standby the rapid fire mode by pressing the left trigger and then the sync button. Plus, the company offers a lifetime warranty on their products. I haven't played CoD5 online, so I cannot comment on what others are saying, but it has been a great controller for me so far!

FAQ about Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Black

Can you use a Wireless Xbox 360 controller with the 360 Play and Charge Kit on the PC?

I recently bought the Play and Charge kit for my xbox 360 wireless controller. It plugs into the top of the controller and plugs into the xbox through the usb port. It works fine and I can charge and play at the same time, but I was wondering if I could plug it into a usb port on my pc to use it as well. Maybe make it work like a normal wired controller? Any suggestions would be appreciated ^_^

Answer
Cut and paste from my webpage. -=-=-=-=-=- "Is there a way to connect an XBOX 360 wireless controller to my PC using the Play & Charge Kit?" Unfortunately, no. Ironically, if you had the Wired controller, you could just plug it in the computer and it would work perfectly, but who goes and buys wired controllers? In order to use a wireless controller/controllers on your PC, you need to purchase a "Wireless receiver for Windows" (Basically $20) http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/default.htm I have one, and it works great. -=-=-=-=-=- If you plug the cable into your PC, it may download a driver. This driver allows you to charge your 360 controller using the cable, it does not however allow you to use the controller on the PC.

Answer

call of duty 4 stuck downloading game settings?

So I recently decided to take a break from playing mw2 and went to try and go back and play some call of duty 4 and the game gets stuck downloading game settings. The game also seems to freeze a bit every 20 seconds or so and then resets the animation in the background and what not. I searched for an answer and found some old answers suggesting resetting my router which I tried, and disabling the UPNP function in network settings. Nothing seems to work.
